Default Newbie from San Diego, some ??

How are you all doing? I am new to KTM always been a Honda guy but always wanted a KTM....I have the chance to own one finally but had a few questions first.

The model i am looking at is a 2005 450 EXC

The guy i am buying it from is selling for his brother who passed away, he says the bike is completely stock but I am doubting it

I know KTM comes with upgrades but this bike has a Scotts steering stabilizer, Renthal 48t sprocket, DID gold chain and renthal bars. What did come stock on this bike?

The bike has 1600 miles on it and just had a tune up, so what else should I look for and what should I do as well for upgrades, to make this a more solid bike?

Is 2250 a good deal and is this a good bike. Thanks!

Hoping to own a KTM soon

Hi and welcome.

I'd say that is good price for a bike in good condition with
a steering stabilizer to boot.

Does it have an hour meter on it?

My '03 EXC came with a 48t rear sprocket. Not Renthal though or a gold chain.

Did the brother ride it in sand, that is a red flag for me (Glamis etc)?

As far as upgrades JETTING and SUSPENSION are my big two after
I get a feel for the bike.

it has 60 hours on the meter and no sand mostly mexico and ocotillo wells. I believe it also has a larger gas tank on it.

As long as the oil got changed with synthetic every 8-10 hours,
and the air cleaner stayed clean.

Overall if it does not look thrashed buy it.

BTW, I live in the Mission Bay area, so if you ever want to
do a Baja or Coral Canyon ride PM me.

I use Redline (can buy it at Cycle Gear in El Cajon) or Amsoil, lastly
those over priced Motul or Motorex....

Personally I used to use Precision Concepts, but I like this small guy up in
Escondido, Rudy at Pro Prept. Does fantastic suspension tuning.

I run this on my 640 for Baja IRC Volcanduro VE-40 Intermediate to Hard.

I was running the Bridgestone ED78 Enduro, but we ran a 600 mile loops from
Tecate to down to San Quintin the up and over to Cocos corner and back.
That tire hooked up great, but it was shredded.

A lot of guys I ride with use the Dunlop D745 Intermediate Terrain.
