About 40 now...
Don't know how relevant this is, but my 990 SMT manual just says keep it below 6500rpm and don't use full throttle for the first 1000km (~600miles), then after that stay below 9500rpm. Seems overly simple compared with the complex run-in schemes I've had before. That's what it says though, and it's nice and convenient, so I'm enjoying the extra 1500rpm I can use over my self-imposed 5000rpm limit. I'm not bothering with heat cycles either, just letting it spin nicely and not too fast, and not loading it up so the engine lugs. Having said that, my commute gives it about a 40 minute heat cycle anyway.
Yes, I know there are a few differences between the 690 and the 990 - that extra piston for a start!

Unless I've missed the mark and the 690 engine is a full on competition engine I'd think they would be pretty similar, with your first rev limit probably a bit lower. What's your manual say?
Oh, hi from a newbie too. Made the switch to the SMT last week from a Suzuki SV thou.
