Default KTM SuperMoto T

I waited all year to order a SMT in the USA. I finally get a call telling
me it will be announced to dealers on November 15th and I can order it.

Two days later I get an e-mail from cycle world about the new Ducati to
be announced in Milan on Nov. 9th. Went to the dealer on the 7th he was leaving for Milan the next day. I met with him on the 14th and ordered it
on the spot. Incredible simply Incredible. If I was to design a bike myself
with everything I dreamed of this would be it.

I ordered S touring Model in Ducati Red. Adjustable mapping, traction control,
electronic Olin suspension, ABS. heated grips, adjustable wind screen

417 pounds dry. $19,995

March the same time I would have gotten a KTM
What a difference No wonder KTM didn't have the balls to bring it to the US
and lucky for me

Default Thats not true I'm not dumping on KTM

I was a day away from buying an SMT
I waited all year and several calls to Ohio.

I like the bike it isn't that pretty but it is the type of bike I want.

But the Ducati is so much more refined.
150 hp light weight multi use. It is the state of the art.

I was happy with the timing.

Have you seen it. It really is incredible and and very likely to be bike of the
year.

No Offense Don't be so sensitive like Michael Jackson

Default Ducati

The Ducati is a very nice bike but $19,000 ? Really
The KTM SM is almost half the price with the same performance.

If you think the Ducati is good looking then more power to ya - personally I think it's fugly - I was stoked when they announced a new Multistrada - I did own the old one, and liked it a lot but truth be told after riding a SuperDuke the MS was a terd - no comparison in the fun family and not even as good for touring at least not for me - I am not interested in carrying 50 pds of stuff with me. For me, "less is more" and the new MS is definitely in the category of more is more. If I want one, I'll wait a couple of years and buy an S model for 11K, that is if I want one.

I hope you enjoy the new one - yes it has every electronic gadget known to man-Personally, I'll take the new SMT over it any day.

Enjoy your Duc I'll be anxious to hear how much you love it -

I have had 8 Ducati's and have enjoyed all of them, currently own two KTM and no Ducati's - Never had a better bike than my 08 Super Duke, never.

very interesting post to me, a guy looking to move to a bike more in this category.
I've been checking out the Vstroms, supermoto Ts, multistrada 1200s, and Ulysses.

Sure would like to hear more about what supermoto T owners are saying about their bikes. I think I'm about ready to make the move to one.

Great all-round bike. Fueling is a bit wonky during break in and the 2nd/3rd gear restriction is noticeable. Once I had all the SAS stuff removed and the Akra slipons/map applied at break in service, the bike was transformed and a real joy to ride.

I was coming off a Ducati Hyper that I still love. However, the Hyper was a toture rack for this 6'2" person with one bumm knee. I have done several 100+ mile rides and a couple +200 mile rides and the SMT has been a joy the whole time. I like the upright ergos and there is plenty of room to the pegs and bars. Wind shield and hand guards do a nice job with the wind.

Bike is plenty fast, handles well and goes about doing its job with not a single complaint. On my other bikes, I have always found faults. It does this well, doesn't do that well but I can find none of that on the KTM. Nice range, quick acceleration, comfort and the little bags are quite handy for carrying rain gear, tools, hat and such.

Suspension is fine on stock settings (200lbs) and I might try adjusting it per the manual just for kicks. I also might try lowering the triples for the SnGs as well.

Not sure what you are wanting to do or where you are going to do it but the SMT sure does make a strong case for a 1 bike garage. (no comments on 2up as I have not done it.)

Yep, I'm down to one bike with this one. Bought it Saturday!

What about the 2ond/3rd gear restrictions?
Akra and map help with mpg?
SnGs?

thanks,

thanks,
Congrats on your purchase. Let us know what you think.

There are a few posts on the 2nd/3rd gear restrictions on this forum, Superduke or one of the other KTM forums. In short, you don't get full power in those two gears and there are a couple wires that you can work with to override this issue. Here is a link on the issue but if you google KTM 2nd/3rd gear restriction, you should find a few links. http://www.monomaniacs.nl/tnt/KTM-69...ar-restriction

I skipped it and had the Akra pipes/map put on and removed all the SAS/O2 stuff at breaking. Expensive but the bike is transformed. I took the heat shields off for now. Maybe on a long trip I might put them back on. Gas mileage seems about the same. I am at 128 miles on this tank and light is not on yet.
