Dueal purpose tyres for SM 950 / SMT990 ??

Hello !

I am new here in this forum.
I want to know if its possible to fit dual purpose tyres on my SMT990 ? I need tyres, that have both on-road and off road capabilities. The problem is the size. The standard size on the bike is 180 rear and 120 front. Is it possible to get suitable tyres in these sizes ? I have only seen up to 150 for rear wheel and 110 for front.

Hope someone can give me a tip.

The first thing i wanted to do on my 625 SMC was change tires to something more agressive for offroad, got a good tire catalog and looked for a better tire than the Pirelli MT60 RS mouted on there.
Well to make a short story even shorter, there is no beter tire for dual perpose. some were 60/40 on/off, some 40/ 60, some not street legal, and then there was this pirelli, a whole paragraph about how it was excelent in all rain, dry, grip, so on,
It was the tire on my bike allready, bingo, I'm going with the pirelli and its allready mounted. when it wears out, I'm gettin anouther one.
I have 160/60/17s, looked it up, 160 seems to be the biggest they make.

I'm looking at getting some Avon Distanzias fitted to my SMT for a long dirt ride coming up.

The rear only comes in a 160 wide at the moment but I've read of people with Buell Ulysses and BMW HP2's that have the same size rims as us fitting them no problems.

I have seen your bike on other forums and love it!

I wish I could do the same, bit it is a little cost prohibative for me.

However, I've now found that Continental make TKC-80's in sizes to suit our bikes

Those tires look great for dual sport
