Yes!

On my 640e I stick a piece of 2 x 4 under the kick stand to level the bike.

Completely screwed in.

It's the Asian bikes (my XR's and TT's) that you don't screw the dip stick in for.

Unless your 2002 Duke has an SXC engine.

Don't you have a spin on filter on the the frame?

You do have the spin on filter so....you need to screw the dip stick in
ALL the way, and have the bike level.

I have almost 14K miles on my bike (had 19K on my first LC4), and
that is how I check my oil.

If you check it with the dipstick not screwed in, you will have over filled
the engine.

BTW. Nice looking bike.

Dereck,

I run the bike until the exhaust is too hot to touch.

Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, then check the level.

I am sure checking it cold is okay too, but my KTM mentor
always told me to do it his way.
