You need to make the fuel/air mixture richer when coming down
from less dense air.

Go to a bigger main jet (140 to 160 as an example).

Your bike will be running really lean if you leave the stock high altitude
jetting.

Thank you for you input, the book says it is stock with a 165, it has a 160 in it now, I will go back to a 165 and ajust the mix to the two turns out. (also in book). thanks again.

Scratch that, I am going get the JD kit and start with the 170.
Was wodering though, about the pump timing adjustment screw that a poster said to set to 2.5 - 2.8. Is this important and nessisary and where and how do I do that? Bajadog, got any input on that, you seem to know what your talking about.

I found this on the JD Jetting website in the FAQ section.

"Accelerator pump timing screw-
Use the pump timing screw by the linkage spring to readjust the pump starting point. The screw needs to be turned inwards until the linkage has freeplay and the rod no longer is compressing the diaphragm. Turn the screw inwards and lightly push down on the right side of the plastic to feel the freeplay (where the rod goes down). Once freeplay is found, turn the screw outwards until there is only about ¼ to ½ turns of freeplay. This allows the pump to completely refill and keeps the squirt from starting too early as you open the throttle.
See- http://www.pbase.com/jdjetting1/image/58332789 (the setting shown may be near 3mm when using an aftermarket replacement spring for the linkage)"

I have also called JD when I got my last kit for my Berg, and
they will pretty much walk you through all the adjusting you
need to do (you paid for it with the kit).
