Default Solution to fouling spark plugs

Hey everyone,

Very new to this site. Huuge KTM fan myself. I have a 2008 250 SX and every other ride my spark plug fouls.

I bought my bike brand new last August, and I've probably gone through 15 spark plugs (ngk 8ecm)

Right now I fill up 20 Liters of gas - 400 mL of oil For my bike and my brothers 125 sx.

Why am I going through so many plugs?

Thanks,

nick

plugs fail because its usually running to rich or your just not going hard enuf. also try a 7ecm or 9 ecm plug. those 15 plugs that have fouled are probably fine and just need some brake cleaner. what colour is the plug after a ride?

yea its just too rich if it still fouls plugs and runs like **** id just drop the needle down 1 or 2 clips. just unscrew thhe the throttle cable from the carb unscrew the small nut and move the clip to a higher point on the needle. it should run mint

Just another random thought Nick.

What pre-mix oil are you burning?

I know on my Waverunner, when I bought
it off of a neighbor, he said to run it 50:1 synthetic.

He sold it to me with a bottle of Belray.

When I ran out of it, I bought the cheapo 2 stroke
oil at pep boys (32:1 was the recommended mix).

What a huge difference.

It ran REAL smoky. Fouled plugs. Had to have the power valve
cleaned at the Yamaha shop.

I went back to the synthetic, and it runs fine now.

Could be coincidence, but ....

This is what I run (granted motorcycle are not water craft).

I was told don't use any other plug other then the br8ecm, or the shorter br8(can't remember what it is again?!) but any way, Ive been using motul 2 t for my mix. My friend on the other hand uses boat oil and his 06 250 runs mint. What oil should I switch to, I'd gladly try something else. Each oil has different mix ratios though right? I heard amsoil is decent stuff but I don't know because my dealership only sells the motul. ( they recommend it ) after fouling plugs and playing with pilot jets, main jets, different needles, moving the needle clip, changing ratios with (motul oil) I've had enough.. Had a somewhat warmer day yesterday and my bike.. Yes... Fouled another plug. I picked up an iridium br8 something. Now Im switching my mix, any good suggestions will help!

Thanks for the replies.. Never thought I'd hear from anyone!

Hey guys, I jetted my 250sx again today. It's getting cold here in Canada! Went to below 0 the other day. So I thought I'd adjust it to colder weather. Bike is doing wonders now.

Thanks for all of your help...

More wicked news!!!!

The little brother is picking up his 2011 250 xc-w on Wednesday. Should be nice getting out with him before winter time comes. I'll try and get a group shot of our toys.

Ttyl
