02 with a cracked cylinder

im looking a a 2002 ktm 250sx the guy said its got a cracked cylinder any ideas why it would of done this? he only wants 700 for it and its a clean bike ive been looking on ebay for cylinders and found a few just wondering what years will work with this bike and if its worth it to put the time and money into

it's worth it.But maybe you could try to get him down on the price ?Have you priced a new KTM250 lately ? Maybe he overheated ? H2O pump/seals ? Have a look at tranny oil. You'll need more info/view to know ...my opinion may be biased, 'cuz I think 2 strokes are the way to go. Likely cheaper to rebuild than a 4t topend, plus they smell better...Be prepared for worst case scenario: Crank/rod,piston,etc.
