ktm 300 splutters when powervalve opens

just got my ktm 300 out after a month of it being sat. fresh fuel. new plug. compression is 195psi. bike starts first kick.its still got lots of torque on pull off but as soon as power valve is about to come in it splutters like mad.
ive cleaned all wiring connections up adn all ok. bike was running great last time i went out on it.

any ideas????

Hmm, it could be many things.

I like that you went for ignition first because I've seen a bad coil or CDI cause the same problem.

When it sputters, is it a drop in power sputter, or can you ride through the issue?

How do you know it happens when the PV is about to or starting to open? Are you watching a tach to check for that specific rpm?

My 380 PV doesn't start to open till 5200rpm/min with max open at 7200rpm/min.
