RC8 puking oil thru breather hose

Iíve been pushing my bike a bit harder now that the weather is warming up. Problem is now Iím getting quite a bit of oil coming out of the breather hose. (Oil on the bottom fairing occurred during an hour long ride)
Bike has a Rottweiler intake. 4K miles on the odometer.

Just started reading about using a ďcatch canĒ. Is that my only option? If so....is it something I have to make, or can I simply buy one?

Hey KTM68,

What's your re-route path for the breather hose? If it goes straight from the engine and down this would be expected. Is this your first summer riding with this setup?

Check out my post here. You won't need a catch can if the hose goes high enough. https://www.ktmforums.com/forums/rc8...tml#post802521

The breather comes straight down. Prev owner had it setup this way. I bought the bike in sept....so yes, itís my first summer with this setup.
To be honest....I donít even know what the breather hose is attached to. Iíve only had the tank off once(to replace fuel line quick connects)....and didnít take notice of the breather. Does it come off the Rottweiler air box ?

What size/kind of hose do I need to purchase(assuming I copy your setup)? With your setup...what happens to any oil that gets spit into the breather hose? Does it just eventually drain back?

Btw: I opened up the tail of my bike to do some work over the winter ....and found this small air filter zip tied to the tail frame.(see pic). Iím assuming prev owner just stored it there for some reason, as it wasnít connected to anything.

This behavior makes sense then, which is good news and bad news. Good news because most likely nothing is wrong (I'm guessing the oil showing now and not earlier is due to increased pressure from harder riding). Bad news is you have some work ahead of you.

Stock, the crankcase breather hose comes off the rear cylinder head then up to the intake box where it follows to the top of it then curves and angles down. It's natural for some oil to exit the engine out the crankcase breather hose, but usually unnatural for it to make it's way out the stock setup and into the intake box. If your crankcase breather house goes straight down off the engine that's not good. The way I routed the house was the best way I could think of hiding everything and keeping stock functionality. The oil that leaves the engine travels up the hose then returns to the engine when pressure normalizes (hence the reason for the filter at the end). Any oil in the hose is only there for a few moments before returning.

Looking at the filter I linked it seems like I went with 1/2" inner diameter hosing.

Relic, apparently were posting at the same time. Take a look at the pic I added to my post. Any idea what the filter might be for?

If the inlet is 1/2" it could be for the crankcase breather hose. If so, wonder why the re-routed the hose and then left the filter.

sounds like someone previously just yanked it thinking theres nothing attached to it, didnt understand why and fed it low, didnt take the tail section apart so the filter still there.
