Hanguard kit

What do people think of the ktm hanguards?
I’ve come from a sports bike to a superduke 1290 so it’s a little cold .

Thanks in advance

I've been considering handguards for next winter, but may have to trim my windscreen (Cal-Sci large) to make room. A ride last December down the East Coast was still a bit chilly at 23F with heated gloves and grips.

I use hadlebar muffs in extreme cold. I have hand guards on my KLR and my DRZ, and find that they really don't do much to help hands stay warm if it's really cold. Muffs, OTOH, are very effective.

The hand guards are pretty much just cosmetic only...well, they might help save levers in a tip over.

I was going to put a set on my 16' but the price was nearly $400. I am looking for an alternative.

I fitted the hand guards for an 1190 Adventure to my 2015 SDR. $80 (Australia) and bolted straight on. Bolted them on to the outside of the bar end weights and had to put a small notch in the plastic for the clutch and brake lines. Just used a rat tail file to make the notches. Had to get 2 new bolts to replace the ones used in the bar end weights, 10mm longer than standard.

i wouldn't know. when i bought my '19 in late march, ktm didn't send the brackets with the bike to the dealership. grrr. mine wasn't unique. apparently many were that way. i've been told delivery date of mid-may. not that i'd need them in late may, as opposed to late march, in ohio...

It was the same in the UK. However I ordered the '19 guards to fit on my '17 and they arrived just a few days later.

Crazy that we can get them as accessories when '19 buyers don't all have them yet.

Rode yesterday (50's) with vented gloves and grip heat on. My palms were warm, but fingers got chilly. Handguards would have been nice to cut the breeze.
