Question SDR oil change and re-use of oil filter

Hi Guys,

Just this small question regarding the oil change. I have about 8000 km on my SDR 2018. I have done an oil change at 1000 with oil filter - at 5000 with oil filter and I am going to do another at 10000 km. Do you think I need to change the oil filter as well again? Maybe it is for the best as it not very pricy... The KN-650 is about 20 Euros on my side of the world.

Cheers!

I've heard of filters made to last more than one oil change, but not for bikes. Cheap insurance.

Thanks for reaction guys. I will change oil and filters soon. I cannot seem to find the kit to buy online (oil filter and screens). Any idea where I can get this? I am in Europe...

Hood49~ As others have mentioned, changing both oil and filter is a good idea and for 20 Euros (or cheaper), well worth it. As for combination kits, there's no shortage of available retailers who sell them although I'll certainly put in a plug for KTM Twins as they've been great to deal with.

Here, there and everywhere!

I guess I will just clean the screens (like this guy on YT:
).
I will try to get the filter on eBay or just pop by the local KTM dealer (10km away). Thanks for all the responses guys!

Just a last question. I am about to put in an order here for oil as well. I guess this should be ok?

Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W-50, with "Exceeds API SJ and JASO MA-2" specifications, is a fully synthetic 4-stroke engine oil for sporty motorcycles.
Features:
Exceeds API SL, JASO MA-2
Excellent lubrication film stability
Castrol Trizone Technology provides combined protection for engine, transmission ...

Thanks guys

In the video, that guy 1) reused his filter (not the end of the world, but it retained some original break-in oil, and 2) used the wrong type of oil for his bike - he used Cross Power, which is for dirt bikes. Should have been Power Synth...

Yes indeed you are right. But it shows the process.
I will put a new filter, clean the screens, and use the Castrol oil.
