After we purchased (new) the second Gen (two-up) we then purchased this first Gen KLR (used with 800 miles on the clock) specifically for my solo excursions and it has served me incredibly well. A bit more off road in design and function, the first Gen KLR's have already developed a loyal following and venerable reputation since 1987 when they were first introduced.
This KLR is a keeper for the duration for me as well. I ride this frequently and it is always fun to ride because of its simplicity that is exhibited in its design and function.
