Hello everyone. I'm Chad. I have a 2021 890 Duke. I removed the passenger seat and foot pegs, added an SC Project exhaust with the decat, RapidBike Evo, bar end mirrors, Yoshimura fender delete kit, Ergo seat, and all the orange accents I could find. Happy to join you all.

Looks fantastic.
I took the front orange headlight decals off, the front guard orange ‘R’ decals and the big ‘R’ decals off the side of my bike. I then had a guy make up custom ‘R’ and small ‘KTM’ decals, which I think look great.
I kept my original pipe on, but fitted a decat pipe (brilliant note now) and had the heat shield coated black. I had the seat cowl colour matched white and put the original KTM orange/black decals back on.
I fit an aftermarket phone charger, KTM black belly pan (fitted since the pics), Evotech radiator guard, KTM windscreen (very effective), Powerparts Ergo 20mm+ seat, 26mm bar risers with a 20mm set back (added greatly to comfort), KTM cruise control, tail tidy, a bunch of black bolts to replace the allow KTM ones, sponge grip covers, clear protective cover over the screen, aftermarket bar end mirrors (excellent looking and view), KTM frame plugs, a bunch of stuff from Aliexpress (front and rear sliders, foot extender for the stand, rear stand spools, black master cylinder guard, extended clutch arm which is brilliant at reducing clutch pull effort. I still have on order from Aliexpress a KTM cap, clear headlight guards, black front ‘890 Duke’ sprocket guard, black ‘Duke’ valve caps, plain black rim stickers and a black ‘Duke 890’ radiator cap). All in all, I’ve spent about $1800 in accessories.
Im still deciding if I’m going to fit a K&N air filter and a rear fender extender. I’m thinking about painting the windscreen black.
I absolutely love this bike. It has a great power spread, perfect comfort for me with the risers, screen and seat, great looks as it is not a typical generic bike and the light weight is fantastic.
You have done a great job in making the bike your own. Matte black ‘R’ decals would work on your bike against the gloss black.

Nice. I like the custom graphics. I thought about using the stock silencer with a decat as mine is really loud. Did you have to do any extra tuning going that route? I’ve also wondered how a windshield would look. Nice bike, looks great.

Thanks.
The windshield is very effective, especially for a small screen. I’m 5’10” (178cms) and don’t notice any buffeting on my helmet at all, but a noticeable decrease in wind pressure on my chest. I may still get the inside of it painted a semi-gloss for looks. I inquired about getting it tinted or wrapped, but there’s too many curves.
I bought the decat pipe from Verex Australia. The same guy did some work for me on my XJR1300 and he is a craftsman. Apart from the quality, he is about half the price of Arrow and SC Project. Once I heard the bike with just a decat, I knew that spending $900-1200 AUD on a slip on was wasting my money as it would become a Police magnet and also annoying on long runs (but each to their own… ask most Harley riders).
I decided against the quick shifter due to quite a few reports of problems, so opted for cruise control, which is getting fitted next month. A dealer close to me is fitting it for $300 cheaper than the actual dealer that I bought the bike from originally. I can’t complain too much as I paid $3100 less than the r.r.p when I bought it ($15990 vs $19100 AUD) and their service has been pretty good, but too far away to be convenient.
The heat shield on my bike is ceramic coated, not powder coated as I read ceramic coating is more durable. Have you fitted a radiator cover yet? Evotech’s fits and looks great.
The KTM black belly pan is really just for looks and collecting small rocks to bring home for your garden (🤣), but I’m happy with the sporty edge that it gave my bike.
You have really given your bike an edge by removing the orange and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do mine.
Remember… if you don’t look back when you get off your bike, then it’s the wrong bike for you.

Oops… I just ran the bike from cold for 15 minutes after I fit the decat, without touching the throttle. I let it cool completely down and checked for leaks and that the bolts were tight.
Some say that is a waste of time, but YouTube owners, my KTM Sales Manager and other internet sites said to do the 15 minute recalibration and I’ve had no problems since. I look at it as it’s my 15 minutes to waste, so who cares.

I tried that as well with my new exhaust, it seemed to work at first but then it wasn’t idling right. I put the exhaust on right before the first service and had them download the Akripovic map. That fixed the idle problem. Later I added the Rapidbike Evo and K&N filter. I don’t think it made any difference. At least I know it’s good if I ever want to change anything else.
My SC Project came with a carbon fiber exhaust shield. It’s small but effective. I ordered the radiator guard you suggested. Thanks, I’m always looking for new parts. I may get some orange bars and an orange triple clamp. I’ve been putting it off though because the amount of work it will take to change.

We have a place called W.A Bolts in my state and you just take in the bolts that you want replaced in black. They are my new best friend and cheap!!!
In the states, you would have the same thing or at least a hardware store that carries good stock. I just kept googling 7ntil I found a place that sold to the public.
Ive replaced the original riser bolts (before I bought the new risers), the bolts that secure the heat shield, the ones for your pillion grab handle, the bolts for my new tail tidy, the bolt that secures the exhaust to the hanger, the muffler hanger bolts, the bolts that secure the clutch arm (which was replaced with a shorter arm), the bar end mirror bolts.. I think that’s it.
So far, that’s cost me about $25(Aud) at most. Worth doing and looks great.

It’s a very cheap and effective way to improve the look. Keep in mind that all of the bolts that I’ve replaced have spares and they are included in the $25. I have even used black bolts to secure my new rear brake reservoir guard. If I felt confident enough to do the Triple Clamps, I would. Good luck in your search.

I also added the K&N air filter and dropped a tooth off the front sprocket to give the bike its correct gearing. I’m also going to fit a Rapid Bike ‘Easy’ Tuning Module in the very near future as a mate of mine has said this has dramatically smoothed out his low to mid throttle delivery.

looks great
You’re a legend. It looks like I did everything right. Did u happen to connect the quick shifter plug? I have the duke r with the quick shifter. Or is this an accessory for people that don’t have quick shifters?
I think it is for an add on accessory. I believe they have their own version of a quick shift kit. You should be good to go.

Heres the whole thing. Might as well while I'm doing it.
