A nice brace of KTMs @DaveNZ
2 good riding mates Pete, we spent 10 days in the South Island, Did the Burt Monroe rally etc. Great time it was, and just last November i went down South with 3 other 1290's and 4 Tuono Factories. Great ride. One of my 1290 buddies recently sold his 1290 to a local mate, and he's ordered a 2020 Street Fighter S. So looking forward to seeing one in the flesh. Photo is half way through the Haast Pass, another piece of incredible road, tight windie, up and down, perfect for big torquey twins.

We even managed to get a table at the Glorious Cafe and enjoyed coffee out of ceramic mugs :coffee:

^^^Nice. One of my last Wangamomona rides. 200kms of tight windie country roads (forgotten highway) with a great pub mid stop. DB9 (beautiful bike) SP 939 (great back road bike) 790 (bike slayer) and 1299S, (fuking handful) great day and awesome ride.

It is she has been hiding and busy for a while
Better that she hides in Australia than back in Spain at the moment. In my humble opinion of course.

WELCOME DaveNZ....(y)

I'm just out on "parole" from the big hospital and was trimming some emails...... great to have you on the forum!

:D

PS...... hip surgery went well..... fkn amazing, no pain anymore, just the usual muscle/tendon stiffness - and they do it all from in front via a 3" incision....... not like the crap old days in from behind with a massive scar and months of restrictions........ oh, and the scenery was very rehabilitating toooo .

Cheers @AliceNicho

My surgeon was Dr Bjorn Smith....... he was fantastic...... and make no bones about it, you absolutely want to hear the words 'Anterior hip replacement'..... not 'Posterior'......... I have a sexy :)ROFLMAO::rolleyes:o_O) pic to add showing my 7cm (yes only 7cm) scar vs members of my family who had the 'in from the rear' style operation just 5 years ago...... they have a loooong C shaped scar around the hip and buttocks.

My physio is already encouraging me to walk unaided..... just 7 days after the op! I have been doing this but still play safe with 2 crutches...... but I can walk with just one stick and am close to being confident without any!

The 'in from the rear/ankle up near your ear' style op will have 3-6 months of movement limitations and a huge scar - whereas I've been told to do my rehab exercises and get on with walking properly (obviously there is some residual post surgery type pain & swelling which is rapidly settling down for me)...... and I must wait 6 weeks for the GP to advise if it's ok to drive...... but I'm so lucky to have had a surgeon that was up to date with the new procedure.

You'll like Dr Bjorn...... he's a bit of eye candy for you, and a top bloke for me - not a bike hater etc etc.....

(y)

Here it is...... it's not R rated but the quality is poor as the light in the bath room is weak...

Funnily enough he is actually my specialist as he goes between RBWH and Mater **** thing though when I had my most recent appointment at RBWH he left the room "for a few minutes" to get a referral organised for the hip clinic, got a call about an urgent case at Mater and forgot about me took me an hour to realise how silent it was and go looking. Since then he has been extra attentive and calling me every 2wks to check on how I'm going.
He has also agreed to my suggestion about his plan for cortisone into the hip joint and flexor tendon - I will only agree for it to be done a maximum of 2weeks prior to a confirmed surgical date as I react badly to cortisone with significant increase in pain and full loss of mobility till surgically repaired (happened with my wrist and ankle).

Yours definitely looks neat and tidy

Cheers Alice, I'd love to be posting a pic of my GT parked somewhere with a nice view, but I'm not quite ready to race just yet........... but my post op effects are improving rapidly...... so much that when I run out of 'Endone' pain relief tomorrow I'll likely not get any more and just rely on panamax/panadol tabs like before the surgery.

Time is close though..... right wrist is twitching, and looking at @JoshKTM 's pics is driving me on........ ;).

Stick with Dr Bjorn....... others in the Mater have mentioned he is actually one of the best (if not the best) and that emergency call while he was with you must have been a critical call out to make him drop and run....... (y).

I had to have a blast of radiation to prevent future re-calcification of my hip joint..... sounds scary but if says you need it then you need it........ Best wishes for an outcome as great as mine....... geeez, only 2 weeks now and I'm walking easily with one crutch (for safety) and the post op swelling is less painful by the day!
