Hey, yesterday I picked a used Super Duke R - the first generation, MY 2014. I was surprised to see that in the settings menu there is a Quick shift option. I know that QS was introduced in SDR with the second generation and first gen do not have it even as an option. However, for some reason option is there. Bike was serviced and maintained only by authorized KTM dealers and no garage mods have been done.

I did not try turning the option on - picked the bike and straight into the garage as snow came back.

Anyone else having the QS option on an early-year SDR? Or do you have any idea why it's there as it should not be?

Offtopic: I am considering installing an IRC Components aftermarket blipper - spoke with them - they say it's safe.

plamemby~ First, congratulations and welcome to the family! As to your question, I have a 2015 U.S. model (which I got new in late 2014) and do not have any menu option for a quick shifter. Interesting enough though, while there's no mention of it in the owners manual or parts catalog there is a reference to it in the service manual via the wiring diagram (see figure 1). I'll also mention, at the time it was not advised by KTM to install a quick shifter due to the ECU configuration. There was discussion regarding a factory Power Part option but that never manifested itself until future models.

Thanks! I'm coming from a Yamaha MT07 and am surprised how similar the SDR rides in the city - just as easy as the MT.

To the QS - yep, interesting. It seems that KTM planned this since the beginning of the platform, but didn't implement it in the early ones - maybe because engine/gearbox was not ready to handle it properly. I spoke to a local tuner who also works with some racing teams here and abroad. He has quite a bit of experience and said he surely can activate the QS even for the 2014 SDR. According to him (he has some sources in KTM) there is already an angle sensor inside the gearbox that is used instead of the usual shift rod sensors. Can't tell if true or not but I will try this for sure when winter finally ends...

Is this the sensor used for QS?
Yes sir. It came out as of the Gen 2's. Unfortunately, in addition to the ride away price, you were also extorted asked to pay KTM extra money to unlock it. Anyway, if you want to add a quick shifter I strongly recommend Translogic. I've used one of these on my GSXR for 25000km and the gearbox is still perfect.

I see, thx! Anyways, it's still interesting why there is the menu option for QS. Maybe KTM dealers did some updates and somehow planted the option there... Who knows...

Thx for Translogic suggestion. I think I would go in a bit different direction - I want to add a blipper too, so I'm considering this from IRC - BLIPPER | Irc components. It's plug and play and times can be adjusted on the fly.
