Hello all!
I have an opportunity to buy a 2020 1290 SAR with just under 9K miles, about 14Km, with many aftermarket parts for USD 16k should I go for it, or are the new 2022 upgrades worth the extra 4 to 5k USD it would cost to purchase and similarly equip?
I currently own:
1990 Tenere 600 3AJ
2005 Suzuki Bandit 1200
2019 Kawasaki Versys (will probably need to go to make room for the KTM ;))

Depends on how many and what type of aftermarket parts. I paid $16k for my SAS brand new (SAR was the same price) in 2020. There were dealer discounts because the new model was soon to be coming out
Looking at $17K out the door. Touratech KTM branded hard panniers with soft liner bags, Touratech top box (not seen in pics)

KTM aftermarket seat, bash plate, headlight guards, kickstand enlarger, crash bars, as far as I can determine

My Karoo 3s that came on my 790R wore out more than twice as fast as the K60 Scouts I replaced them with. The 1290 is heavier and with the extra power probably goes through tires faster. The K60 rear in the photo had over 14k miles, was plugged 3 times, and had a nail in it that I didn’t know about until I put the new one on. They are heavy and pricy, but perfect for me.

Nice bike-FYI, the upper crash bars I think are standard on the SAR, but you also have the lowers-very nice. I think my SAS came with electronic suspension (I had a choice of both models for the same price) I think (apart from the color) that was the difference between the two. Oh, and the SAS has cast wheels

Well based on the single vote in the poll I got the 2020 took it for a short trail ride and it is plenty joy inducing for me, cant remember when I last giggled in my helmet.
It's good to be here
Wow. I was the only one to vote? I probably wouldn't have listened to me. Nice looking bike, I hope my vote didn't steer you wrong :)
