I have a Ktm 300 XC 2015, recently had the frame powder coded. Stupidly I never took a picture of the VIN number and now I can barely make out the numbers. Luckily the last 6 digits are still readable. Obviously as it’s a XC I do not have a V5.

I have read the pin post about decoding VIN numbers but for some reason it keeps saying invalid on the part finder.

So correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the VIN would be:

VBK - Manufacture
MXK - 300XC
2 - 2 stroke
3 - 0ff road
0 - check number
F - 2015
M - assembly plant
The rest I can read

Does Anyone have an 2015 XC in the UK that could confirm 1-8 digits?

Cheers

As your bike is a Cross Country bike I do not think you will have MX as number 4 and 5 as the MX "numbers" were mainly used for Motocross bikes. Also the check number can be anything from 1 to 0 or any letter of the alphabet. The check number can not be found out by logic. If finding out the VIN# is high on the priority list for you I suggest you take a small fine file and slowly start filing down the paint/powder coating where the VIN# is. You can then re-paint the area or cover it with a good quality see-tru tape/self adhesive plastic or similar.
