The 02 sensor controller & fuel mods are not performance mods they there just correct the AFR, hardware fitted to the motor that changes air flow is where we see the gains.I’m wondering if my 2018 Duke 690 is different for some reason.
I bought my bike new in 2019 and the bike had a pretty bad throttle transition. I read about this issue and bought a O2 plug to test it out for cheap. I did the throttle calibration and the bike ran smoothly and could chug down to ~2900 rpm. Around the same time, I added a baffled mid pipe, mainly to make oil changes easier. I eventually found a Leo Vince muffler and then opened up the airbox. At this point, I felt I should get the O2 mod and the fuel controller. Running the fuel controller anything over 12:00 (off) and my pipe gets sooty and performance feels like it decreases along with a steep drop in fuel mileage. I also noticed a weird power surge at some rpms/throttle positions when I let off with the O2 mod so I reinstalled the O2 plug (and blockoff bolt). The bike ran fine this way for 14,000 miles. My O2 controller has been sitting on my shelf so I thought to give it another try. I did the whole throttle calibration and idle reset again and still experienced the surge and no low rpm improvement. However, this time I kept it installed for a couple hundred miles and then the surge went away. However, now the check engine light comes on with a generic O2 sensor code. I cleared the code but it comes back after 50 miles or so. I disconnected the O2 controller and this time left it all stock without the plug. Guess what. The bike still run EXACTLY the same, clean down to 2,900 rpm, smooth throttle transition and even better mileage. The check engine light also never comes on again. I am thinking that all my bike ever needed from day one was the throttle calibration. Why would my bike not respond well to O2 and fuel mods? Are the 2018+ bikes set up richer from the factory? Are people able to get even better low rpm performance with these mods and I’m just doing something wrong? Thanks for your help!
I agree with the heavier flywheel made a big difference between the 790 & 890's. I would go 1 or 2 teeth UP on the rear sprocket this also smooths out the lower RPM's, going down one tooth on the front I found to much of a change.OK, so my O2 sensor might be on the rich side already. I had read so many people relating their impressive results with the mods so I thought I would try them. I wasn’t expecting extra performance, it just sounded like it was somehow smoothing over the rough piston power pulses at really low rpm. I think the bike really needs a heavier flywheel for that though. I’m happy that your devices work well for others and I won’t hesitate to get another for whatever next bike I get that has fueling issues.
Matt I have found with the Euro5 690 as standard & with just a can it did not need any extra fuel in the open loop & would expect your 701 to be the same, so would use a 02 controller by its self. Husqvarna 701 Enduro & Supermoto O2 sensor Controller | eBay@kevxtx Ive been looking at your o2 and fuel controller for my 2021 SMC-R (euro 5). Have you had any success with this bike at all?
I was waiting for Coober to release their ECU piggyback but they didnt release on the stated date and arent providing updates.
Got them on EBayHi @kevxtx , I want to order o2 and fuel controller for my 2020 690 SMC-R but I couldn't find it on ebay. Where can I order it?
Hi mate, I do. You can MP me for more details if you'd like.Hi all. Does anyone have o2 sensor for Ktm Duke 690 for sale?
Pm sentHi mate, I do. You can MP me for more details if you'd like.
I will also sell mine. It’s like new, only used for a couple rides. Also have a fuel controller. In California.Hi all. Does anyone have o2 sensor for Ktm Duke 690 for sale?
Thanks for your feedback, glad you happy with your results.Hey Kev,
Just wanted to post an update (almost a year later...).
I got your o2 + fuel mod for my 2017 KTM Duke and finally got around to getting my new exhaust, air filter, and mods setup this week.
Parts
Remus underbelly (with decat)
DNA Stage 1 Air Filter
O2 Sensor
Fuel Mod
I cannot believe the difference, even after seeing and reading all the various comments across the forum. I set the mod to around 2 o'clock, did the idle reset, and the bike is running beautiful. No excessive pops/cracks, no fuel smell, etc.
For anyone who is still on the fence or unsure - like so many others in this thread - I wish I had done at a minimum the O2 Sensor upgrade way sooner. I feel way more confident at lower RPMs, even with 'Sport' mode enabled.

If the 02 sensor its at fault fit a dongle eliminator & retest, I have seen many of the older 690 with 02 sensor problems, most of them have had injector cleaners used or have run fuel additives in the tank like octane boosters which damage the 02 sensor & it never reading correctly ever again, or have ridden with the 02 sensors disconnected with dongle eliminators fitted then sold the bike an refitted the 02 sensor & the 02 sensor are damaged from running unplugged for a length of time.Hi Kev. My 2014 690 Enduro R is at the dealer for a checkup and valve clearance adjustment. Valves were done and it now pulls like a train according to them. Only problem is that it cuts out while idling, and they say it's the lambda sensor. New one must be ordered from Austria for around U$200. It has an Akra pipe with the dB killer installed and the bike has done 14 000km. Do you have any alternative solution? It was probably already answered somewhere in the previous 69 pages but I'm a lazy analphabet from South Africa.
