I saw a new 2020 Duke 890 R at a dealer... not sold during the past 16 months it has been there. I was very keen to buy as it comes with reduced price + Akra slip on + Tech pack + full warranty but after reading a lot of bad reports on the 890 R here I'm in serious doubt. Should I rather look at something else? (Triple 765 RS?) Regards!
If you can test ride both bikes to help you decide I'd do that first. . . I love mine and I've ridden a 765 (NOT RS) and it's fun as well. If you've read and watched enough reviews of both then it'll come down to simply which appeals to you more right off the bat. Personally I think the 890 R is a super lightweight track and canyon weapon ! ! ! . .
I love mine and no problems other than a sticky rear brake light activation switch replaced under warranty.
Funnest bike i've owned and i've owned too many.
I have both. I'd say the 890 R is a better bike for most riders on most days. It's a little more comfortable--mostly more leg room. Seat is worse on the KTM, even the Ergo. Stripler has a better engine sound. Um...that's about it.
Bought the 890 R Duke today. Gearbox feels stiff in the lower gears. The Akra slipon is tooooo quiet! The db killer must come out!! (Will it be a bit louder with the db killer?) Will have to fit a tail tidy!!
