Hi, im getting my drivers license on a 2021 1290 sas, and I'm having trouble with low speed driving, ive done it with other bikes and it's not as difficult as with this one. Could it be I have suspension settings in a non optimal way for low speed? What settings would u guys recommend?

I recommend practicing more with the mentioned bike. Maybe even watching some informative YouTube videos on how to handle a large adventure bike at low speeds.

Slow speed maneuvering is where most critical skills are developed. I think a good coach or proper info would guide you in the right direction.

Thank u for your answer, but like i said ive done it on other bikes without problem ive had a variety of motorcycles for 25 years i just havent had the need for a license. I haven't had problem with low speed driving with my other bikes ( yamaha vmax, Honda shadow, honda varadero, yamaha dt125 to name a couple.) But the ktm feels very unstable in low speed that's why I'm asking in a ktm forum if the suspension settings could have anything to do with it.

I had problems taking my US license on a Tiger 955 because the bike was so tall, and I wasn't used to it. I took the test a couple of weeks later and passed, as I had gotten a bit of practice on it by that time. I'm pretty sure it's because the KTM is taller than your previous bikes which makes it a lot harder to use at low speeds

Because the bike is so tall and relatively heavy, it is crucial you have good clutch control skills. On a small bike you can usually get away with using the throttle for almost everything at low speed, and minimal clutch except off the line. With the big bikes you will need to put that extra practice time into using the clutch as throttle at low speed. Practice in the parking lot by keeping the throttle input steady at low-medium rpms - say 3000 or so, and use the clutch entirely for speed control (rear brake if required, but very sparingly). The clutch is much more responsive and controllable at low speed than the throttle.

In LS manuvering, I have a finger on the clutch, throttle, & rear brake. Don't lug engine nor fully engage clutch, just keep a steady idle +1000rpm.
