Changed front & rear sprocket - Went to 16 front and 40 rear. Will not go back to OEM again. I'm not into speeds over 200 km/h but love the torque. This combination is perfect for our type of roads, speed limit and of course the twisties! Much better riding experience!!

In effect swapping an overdrive 6th gear, you have a granny 1st gear? It really depends where you live and ride, huh? Personally I like having that really tall 6th to nurse me to a fuel station when I get down to low fuel.

I just love the GRUNT I now have!! Will not change back. I always start with a full tank - play HARD in the twisties and mountains - can do 270 km if I'm just enjoying a nap on the bike or 230 if I "play" No problem with fuel station along the road! Regards.

I have been running 16/40 for the last 20,000 miles on my 2019 SDGT, and it has nothing to do with a granny 1st gear. It means you can ride the canyons in 3rd gear without having to over-rev 2nd gear all of the time. Plus since 4,000 RPMs in 6th gear = 70 MPH, it makes it perfect for riding on the freeway without losing your license.

My 2015 was -1 CS because we did a lot of urban riding, sometimes I'd have passenger around town. But it made 1st to 2nd REALLY short. I even purchased an aftermarket quickshifter. Reading old threads on gearing changes it seems I forgot to use a new toothed CS ring, ha.
After today's ride I'm definitely going +2 rear (oem CS) on the Gen 3 with QS because my urban riding is minimal and passenger pegs were taken off. FWIW I'm 75kg geared up.
