Agreed - a lot of great info - I don’t even own a Gen3 but enjoyed the video from his guidance to the link removal, limitations of the oem linkage and some new rear shock options I never heard of…

It will come in handy if the new GT is based on the gen3 - some options to consider.

I’m not affiliated with these guys but they do share a lot of great info….I didn’t realize the rear height could vary 9mm due to our eccentric chain adj

I’ve watched several of Eric’s videos relating to setting up the SDR for race and I hole heartedly agree with his conclusions and input. While I don’t plan on racing my SDR , mainly street use with some track days, he does offer a updated linkage plate to emulate this on the OEM shock . It changes the geometry to increase rear ride height.

I can attest to this with my experience with my 2020 SAS. In stock form with 19 x 17 set up the bike is squirmy pushing it through turns. I made a 17” front wheel for it and instantly the bike was transformed. Basically dropping the front about 1” or 25.4 mm. At the same time I replaced the rear 170/60 R17 with a 180/55 R17 dropping the rear by about .25 inches which has a net affect of snot 20 mm drop in front . It is much more composed now in aggressive cornering situations.

For me and my philosophy of use I may go with his 20 mm Link plate.

It looks high tech cool as well.
I've known GoGo for 20yrs since his and my Ducati race days, we shared a lot of info over the years but he's undoubtably a top racer, unlike me. I have installed his link on my Gen 3 with the spare Apex shock he had, that he sold to me. Once I actually get a chance to ride the bloody bike, which, due to a combo of **** spring weather and the typical xmas rush at work has prevented that particular joy, I will post some feedback from us mere mortals. I do intend to race my SDR at the Sound of Thunder next Feb and hopefully squeeze a few a trackdays in before then so it will be track based feedback.

I put a 16T front on my 2015 and it really shortened first gear so much that I wound up changing it back. Is it the same way on the 2022?
I believe it is not. A friend of mine has a Gen 1 with stock gearing but with a Rottweiler intake system and it works for me with no problem. Gen 3 stock was way too high to my liking.

Yeah I had the Gen 1 with the full Rotty deal. Intake, stacks, AKR and Autotuning. I ran a 17T front and a 40 rear. Right now I have the 40 rear and I'm pretty happy with it.

I wound up talking with Eric a few times this week and after talking to him I’m going to go to a 114 chain-link with the 20 mm riser it should be an good change. the 114 will keep my height 1mm more than stock so it will also make my wheel base lengthen 5” helping with the crazy wheeling With the 17/40 sprocket combo.

Yeah sorry guys I did mean 5mm. He was saying when I added the 40T rear with the stock chain I had to rotate the axle so much I lost like 6mm in height so by going to a 114 link it would bring it 1mm higher than stock. Then I bought his 20mm link set up that I’ll be installing today and it should be a very nice improvement.

Depending when you spoke to him… he double-checked his calculations a month ago and there was no more losses for the rider height in stock chain and 16/40 gearing, it is actually +3.4mm gain.
I exchanged messages with him in the comments for this video

Anyway, I look forward to your feedback on handling with the increased rider height.
