The PITA fork dust seals

Trying to remove these is a real pain. I ended up putting some small nicks in the tube trying to get these things separated from the fork tube. Now I have some very small bare metal spots on that edge. Should I try to touch them up with something? Don't want any corrosion. These tubes are aluminum right? I'm sure this has happened to someone else on here.
