I have a 2009 Ktm 990. I have purchase a water pump rebuilt from Rottweiler. From videos, etc I have watched I need a case gasket to replace once it has been removed. Does any know this not to be the case? Can the water pump rebuild be done w/o removing side case? And I haven’t been able to find just this single gasket for sale, it has just been in a multiple gasket kit $$$$

Its an o-ring gasket on the outer cover, you should be able to find that at hydraulic repair shops or even a NAPA auto parts store that carries a good selection of o-rings. Worst case is you can try to re-use the gasket, although being compressed for the last 15 years may not create a good enough seal.

There's a service manual online for the 950/990 adventures, I'd highly recommend searching for it and downloading it before working on the bike. This is from my 2003-2008 990 adventure service manual:

I should also say that you should have added on the gasket kit when you got that Rott rebuild kit! Would have added an extra 8 bucks to the kit. Call Rott and see what they'll charge for just the gasket kit for the rebuild kit. Maybe they'll sell it to you as a separate item.
