Dear Community Members,

We are excited to announce that we are live on our new forum platform! We have been working hard over the past few months with a leading design and product firm to deliver a cleaner, faster and more engaging experience for you. We have leveraged XenForo tools and features but added layers of modern design and technology to make the site run faster, smoother and more reliably. All of the valuable content within the community is still here, even though the layout may look different.

A consistent experience across all devices
The site is optimized for all screen sizes, including mobile. All features are available and ready to use on all devices.

Speed and reliability are key
No one should have to wait for information. This site has been built to be much faster and more reliable, period.

Easy to use and navigate
We have made the design clean and simple to focus on the areas the community uses the most and removed clutter.

We have also introduced a number of new and updated features:

New Homepage Experience
Your home page now features the most active forums, trending discussions, featured showcases, and top contributing members. This will help keep you up to date on what’s happening in your community and eventually become a very personalized experience for our members with all the great content you love surfaced effortlessly for you.

Search
We have introduced new search algorithms, powered by an industry-leading AI platform, that will help you find information faster. We plan to roll out new features to continue improving search, and to power many additional areas of the forum.
Due to the volume of content our search platform may take some time to complete indexing. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

Popular and New Posts
We have made it easy to navigate directly to the Popular (previously Active Topics) Posts. You can find the Popular section, which includes “New Posts”, by clicking on the trending up arrow in the navigation. Always be up to date!

Bookmarks
Now you can bookmark your favorite discussions! Bookmarks are a handy way to remember and easily find great content or stuff you want to read later.

Following
Following a thread is a great way to stay up-to-date on the topic, and receive alerts or emails when there are new replies. Thread subscriptions and watched threads are now called “Followed”. Your followed threads can be accessed by clicking on your user avatar, and clicking “Following”. We have migrated all of your existing subscriptions into the new platform.

Show off your own collection.
We have introduced “My Showcase” for you to show-off images of your own vehicles, modifications or road trips to the rest of the community and we have migrated in the existing data from our vBulletin Garages. This is your opportunity to upload often and share your passion! Visit Showcase.

Dark Mode

We have introduced Dark Mode. One of our favorite features allows you to access the site with a power-saving, and easier on the eyes dark mode. You can access it through the right-hand drop-down menu.

We also wanted to make it easier for new users to understand the lingo of forums. We have cleaned up various language to more commonly recognized phrases including:

Forum Listing – the forum index, or forum home, is now known as the Forum Listing page. It can be found in the drop-down menu with the 3 dots.

Following - Thread subscriptions, and Watched are now known as Following

Conversations – Private Messages or PMs are now conversations and can be accessed from the user avatar drop-down in the main navigation

Showcase – Showcase is designed for users to "showcase" items/projects through the use of uploaded images, text descriptions and custom content categories. It’s a way to visually and textually provide detailed information on content you wish to share. The showcase would be similar to a catalog, whereas gallery would be like a photo album. Can be accessed from the drop-down menu with the 3 dots

Popular – is the new name for Active Topics. You can also directly navigate to New Posts / Today’s Posts from this button

Account Settings – is the new name for UserCP. The account settings can be found by clicking on your avatar in the top right navigation

Bookmarks – a great place to store valuable content that you may want to reference later.

These are just a few of the great new functions and features to try on the site. Take a tour and look around! If you have any questions, please check out the HELP section for some quick FAQs about the new platform, https://www.ktmforums.com/help/

Please let us know what you think about the new experience, your feedback is important to us.

Thank you all for your support during this amazing journey!

Ugh. Hate.
Can you tell me what you don’t like about it? Is there anything I can help you find?

Like most of us, I am a creature of habit, so it takes me a bit to get used to changes. (I was more than a little grumpy about it all at first.) I was lucky enough to get the chance to play with the new platform before they went live with it so I am already getting used to it. I have to admit that I am crazy about it now. It feels so much faster and is easy to use after a brief learning curve. Give it a few days and let me know if you start liking it too. :)

Please don't be afraid to explore and test out things to see how they work on the site.

Although you can certainly use the "insert image" icon to upload an image to your post, you can also just drag and drop it to the text editor or even copy/paste it into there! :)

(I took this photo on some backroads here in Texas.)

You can easily share videos just by adding the URL directly into the text editor!

Gif links from sites like giphy.com will display automatically just by adding the gif URL directly in the text editor. Try it!

I am also a huge fan of the dark mode for the community. What is your favorite feature?

I will be here to answer questions and to help you navigate, as needed. :)

How do I edit a pevious post of mine?

I mean one that is a few days old.
Members have the ability to edit a post for up to 24 hours to have time to catch typos, etc. After that you would need moderator/admin assistance to make a change.

Thanks Cricket

Might take a little bit to get use to the new system, but I don't mind it. It's very modern.
As technology moves forward, so should we. (we don't ride 1912 singers as our day to day)

Just a quick message from the mods,
If you need our assistance don't be afraid to ask or mention us in a post or drop us a pm. We will attend to your request as soon as possible.
Just take into consideration time differences and the fact that we are just a member like yourselves and we are new to the system as well.

Go ride that Ktm !!

Sadly I have no positive comments re the change at this stage.

FWIW here my initial impressions:
  • I struggle withouth the overview that the old site gave me. Too much clicking to find where I want to go.
  • I liked when I easily could see who had made the latest posting w/o having to open the thread.
  • Somehow I feel removed from the whole page. This new setup is like it all suddenly became more incognito
  • My initial feeling is that sadly I will spend much less time on this new setup. But that is not all bad as I will probably get more stuff done in the workship! Time will tell.

Im struggling to disagree with you mate. It's a lot less user friendly for me too.

I'm not sure why we have this stuff on the right hand side either even though I've turned it off in my settings. As for 30+ ticks for alerts as default, not impressed, if I want alerts every time someone does something, I'll tell the forum, it shouldn't default to it.

As for the banner, why take a nice banner and replace with a very very poor one? It's like someone is deliberately trying to make it rubbish.

I know the issue of not seeing who made the last post without opening the thread is being discussed with mods and admin behind the scenes atm.
It is a pita.
Or should I say, "we are working on a solution".

I have played with the site a fair bit today and in my opinion it is a big step forward. It is modern, faster to find your way around once you get the hang of it. I like the dark mode, as a mod I agree not being able to see who posted the last comment in a thread is the only negative. It is a new system and it will take users a short while to get on top of it.

We would all still be living in caves if we didn't change. Go and have a look at some of the very clunky Riders Forums out there, a BMW one and another KTM one for example, then come back and compare. Night and Day.

It took me a bit to get used to it initially, but after I have had time to adjust, I like it.

How To Find New Posts & Use Filters
From the navigation, near the upper right-hand corner, click on the upward pointing arrow and then select “New Posts” from the drop down menu.

This will open a new page of new posts for you. You can also choose to set special filters or mark all posts read on that same page.

I am giving this new setup a go, but I am far from convinced... I also miss seing from where a poster is withouth going to their profile...

Perhaps the change had more to do with creating an income as there are more adds popping up including new irrelevant postings in a thread...

Realised why I was suddenly getting more adds popping up on here (including stray postings in a thread trying to sell me something...) It was all about me being stooped and using my main email account as default one on this new setup. Once I used another email address that I use for questionable sites I have signed up for, all that disappeared. Brilliant! Now let's see if those new pesky crap emails I started getting have gone away too!

Crap. The adds are back... that did not work.

Well these companies don't spend many many thousands buying these sites en masse because they're bored. They're an advertising and revenue source. The admins are paid to do their bits, like forum changes, enhancements etc. I don't begrudge them though as their bosses will have told them to upgrade a bunch of sites to the latest platform, one of which happens to be this site. We may wish and hope we're unique/important etc.

Just look at the other 'recommended sites' on the sidebar like mtbr.com which I also visit, has masses of adverts and masses of posts per day etc.

But, what these guys miss is the fact that this forum traffic in posts has dropped in the last 3 days since the upgrade. If that continues, the forum dies and we all go elsewhere. Hell, at this stage I'm tempted to make a new ktm690 forum myself lol.
They'll have metrics and reports that show details of users visits, locations, time spent, pages viewed, time of day etc etc, stuff you wouldn't believe at times, but if they get the right numbers pumped out in a particular metric, they see a win. They don't actually care what happens to the site. I bet none of them own or even want to own a KTM.

Ok. Rant over. I'm just a bit sad about it all.

As a creature of habit it was part of my daily routine to log into KTMForums and see what new posts happened on the threads I've contributed to. Now I'm all screwed up trying to figure out where I left off from last week and was just a hot mess in my office this morning. Is there a way of doing that now through automatic subscriptions or do I need to remember every thread I commented in?

Trav, just click on your avatar up the top which brings up a menu.
"+ following" title is the old subscribed title.
