Does the wind noise change when you turn your head or look up or down?

 

Yeah, surely my helmet can be part of the equation.
I have a Shoei Hornet and I know that the wind may be hitting the peak, but it has served me well for like 2 years and it's become an issue only with the 890 Adv.

 

Maybe? Try another helmet or take the beak off, are u a bird?

Well the birds fly with me on my pedal bike rides sometimes, on some rides I feel like a bird, but not on the moto. When on the moto, those birds fly too close to my head.

I'm looking for some advice on aftermarket windscreens for my 2024 KTM 890 Adventure. The stock windshield is giving me a lot of buffeting and wind noise in my helmet, especially at highway speeds. I am 5.9" (1,75m).

I've already tried the Givi AirFlow, which significantly reduced both issues, and I am quite happy with it. However, I've noticed that above 110 km/h (70 mph) it starts to shake a bit too much for my tastes, especially on a windy day.

What aftermarket windshields have you tried, and what was your experience like? I'd really appreciate any models or brands you can recommend that effectively reduce buffeting and wind noise.

I've used a Madstad screen on my last three bikes and recommend it highly; my current ride is a 2020 KTM 790 ADV. The Madstad raises and lowers, and you can change the angle as well to get the right fit and height. As a year-round rider, I raise it in the winter and lower it in the summer for better flow. The infinite adjustability is unmatched by any other screens, in my experience (50 years riding).

 

I second the Madstad. Its adjustable and works great on my 890. I also use arrow mirrors which fit on stock handguards and I think help reduce turbulence.

I have a 2023 890 adventure with the stock screen and haven’t noticed any buffeting….Im also 5’9”…was there a change between the 2023 and 2024 stock screens?

 

What helmet do u use?

 

That's a pretty quiet helmet, I know, I have one, as well as an Arai xd4, much quieter with the Shoei.

Check to see if the air is also coming from the pockets around the dash, it may not be coming from just over the windscreen.
