My only question is, will the GT and the 1390 SMT BOTH be In the future line-up? Or will the GT be phased out in favor of another overweight, needlessly overpowered off-road poserbike?

I just got a '24 GT. I'm in no hurry to upgrade. And I definitely would not want to upgrade to the first year of a new model like the 1390 GT. But, in 3 or 4 years, I'll probably be ready to upgrade and, hopefully, the 1390 GT will be well-sorted and proven by then.

I wouldn't buy a bike with the AMT, but I definitely WOULD like to have adaptive cruise control. And I like the look of the new headlight better.

 

It's not technically the first year (it will be 95% the same as an SDRevo), but it needs to be more reliable than my gen 1 SDGT for sure. I think people are running out of patience on the reliability. Fixing it once it's broke isn't good enough. I want to use it, not waste my time going back to repair it.

 

No, "technically", it is exactly the first year of the 1390 Super Duke GT.

Even if it's only 5% different (which I am highly skeptical of), it is still different and thus subject to all the same potential problems as an SDR PLUS any additional problems from that percent that is different.

You are totally welcome to buy one. I am perfectly happy to wait until the 1390 GT has actually been out in the hands of us commoners for at least a year before I get one.

I do totally agree on wanting to ride it, not have it in the shop. I got my '24 GT just over 2 months ago and it has been in the shop once for almost 3 weeks and is back in the shop now for 1 week (so far). I still love it and am really looking forward to having it back and actually running like my buddy's new '23 does. Then I will love it even more.

 

I've put 27,000 miles on my 2019 SDGT, and I just can't imagine any other bike to fit my needs/wants in a motorcycle. My previous lg bore bikes ave been a 02 R1150R, a 07 R1200R and a 14 FJR1300. The Beemers were great and somewhat light bikes but lacked entertaining power. The Yammy was fast as hell, but was heavy and the fairing was too stifling for me, especially in warmer temperatures.
For me the only new bike for me would be an improved/updated version of my SDGT.
My SDGT has had some issues that the dealer addressed and had my bike back to me in short order.
Had a fork seal leak while under warranty, but wasn't covered. Had a dashboard go blank a few times, but was covered under warranty and was just a reflash to repair. The costliest repair was a leaking rear shock at around 20,000mi, about 2LG USD.
All in all a stellar bike on all important metrics to me,which are power, handling, ride, comfortable ergonomics, and power.
I'm waiting to see the new 1390SDGT, and confident KTM will come forth with a fantastic sport tourer to surpass the current SDGT. Might be good timing, in a couple/few seasons it might be time to score a leftover 1390, I got a great deal on my 19 by waiting for a healthy discounted leftover.✌

 

What is "2LG USD"? Is that $200, or $2000?

Yeah the 4l drop on fuel capacity is idiotic….at19l it’s only 1l more than my current gen2 SDR

funny how they spin the 1390 is much more fuel efficient yeat I read the range is 300km which is what I get now from my SDR. The current gt would do 400km +.

I’ve been disconnected from this forum for a while but noticed a lot of promotional videos recently that were posted late last year - I would have assumed these were in the hands of consumers in Europe by now and by the time they arrive in Canada/US in 2026, most bugs would have been worked out…

 

They had a pre-production examples of the GT and the latest SA at the big show in Europe, but the new overseers put the kibosh on the rollout of customer bikes. And, of course, there have been spy shots of the bikes in headache-inducing optical explosion paint jobs.The statement has been made by the bailout investors that "European production is dead" so it may be that it will take until 2027 to produce any Indian-manufactured examples of the bigger bikes.
