Thank you Beer!(y)

I just finished cleaning my injectors tonight, while following your procedure. It’s had an issue for some time, stumbling off idle and making it easy to stall. Everywhere else it runs like a champ.
I fired it up after I finished and I’m sure it’s much improved. I’ll test ride tomorrow.
Just for some insight, my bike is just shy of 159,000km.

Fyi a 9vdc battery works as power source to open the injectors. Did that on my 2013 690 SMCR years ago. Versus using the bike battery.
I read that, but would have had to go to the store, the bikes battery is already right there so it was an easy choice.

Just an update; SDGT is running better, but not yet perfect. I got a tank of fresh fuel and some EFI cleaner yesterday. Hoping that will finish washing out the muck. Still has a transitional hiccup when throttling up at certain rpm. Vac gauges show throttles are very close to being in sync. I will also try to tweak that a little more.

Was just thinking of options. I still have a stutter at idle, especially when cold, I did check compression and its not far off from stock which surprised me, no huge difference between front and rear, which is leaning towards wiring. Recently found some intermittent connections in the harness next to the ECU.
I never realized how often I moved those baked wires every time I did routine maint or mods.
My advice to all, limit movement of that as much as possible. Changing a battery has no real alternative options lol. And second get some heat reflective material to just put under where the harness is super close to the rear head or better, something made to insulate pipe that is flexible. ME I went cheap and easy. I got some sticky tape one side and aluminum on the other, with insulation. Prob a good idea for new bikes too.

Wow, what a difference. I did plenty of stop-starts today without using throttle. No problem and something that would’ve been impossible yesterday. (y)
Now I think I need a new battery.:(
Hey Joe do/have you ever run fuel injector cleaner with your fuel. every 10,000kms i put 125mls of Whynes fuel injector cleaner in.

Yes, I’d been using Lucas injector cleaner/upper cylinder lubricant. Didn’t seem to do anything in the bike, though I’d had previous success using it in my diesel ute (Nissan Navara).

Yeah diesels love it, i have 3 and you certainly notice the difference after emptying a bottle in it. I also put it in the petrol motors.

great stuff the Lucas cleaner
I think it’s more of a upper cylinder lubricant with a cleaner
All my engines ran smooth on it and were always kept very clean inside
And yes I do use it in the duke

Looks like I need to clean my injectors too.
Put in a new battery last week and went for a half day ride, the bike ran beautifully as usual. Took it out today and it's not happy to idle, it keeps stumbling off idle and stalling but once moving it runs fine without missing a beat.
I will clean them next weekend and report back.

Clean the injectors today, bike started straight away and is idling perfectly. I will test ride it tomorrow.

Considerations when replacing fuel injector o-rings on bikes (and cars).
When you know the exact measurements you may try o-ring manufacturers like ERIKS or search for a Bosch injector dealer/repair shop.
These rings are pennies.

All went well with the injector cleaning except one detail; the bottom o-ring on the rear cylinder injector disappeared down the cracks when the unit was pulled from the head. Search for replacement o-rings has so far turned up nothing but complete injectors with 0-ring kits. Are these common Bosch parts that can be sourced?

I ended up buying a single used injector and robbed the O-rings off that. I couldn't find anything that cross-referenced to the Keihin part # KTM uses.
