Need assistance - 2024 KTM 1390 EVO in limp mode:

yesterday I installed Healtech 'ESE' Exhaust Servo Eliminator - SD 1290 R (2020+) Item# ESE-KT2 along with Stage 2 SAS/Canister Removal Kit (Big Twins) Item# SAS-S2-B (for the SAS kit I only used the dongle plug in at the SAS spot and installed the block off plates + removed the hoses as they were deleted

today I tried the bike and it is in limp mode, I road for a mile or so, turned around and cycled on off 3-4 times. Got it back into the garage and tried unplugged the 2 dongles and installed the servo temporarily (not the wires into the flapper) along with the SAS piece that has 3 pipe connections

I still got a limp mode upon start and now quickshifter + error code is showing to take to dealer

I installed this around 200 miles on the bike, I am wondering if this interfered with the first service removal, but on my prior 2022 1290 r I did similar but had no issue (I never took the 2022 to the dealer to remove anything, but I do believe the servo eliminator was installed after ~600 miles)

Any thoughts/input/things to try would be much appreciated!

Update…after cycling a few more times there is no error popping up however it’s still in limp mode

I did also disconnect the battery for 30 minutes which made no changes.

I ordered the heal tech mk3 version and hopeful this is the fix but I expect it won’t do anything or there will need to be dealer intervention to reset things.

However If im not throwing a code and it’s in limp mode will the dealer be able to even do anything ?

Hi, Just replied on your Facebbok post too.

You have the wrong ESE dongle. You need the ESE-KT3 thats for Euro5 bikes. You have the Euro 4 version (Super Duke became Euro 5 from 2021 models).

The only option you have until you have the ESE-KT3 dongle is to mount the exhaust servo back to original state. Inlcuding all cables and to the correcct tension on them. The bike will be in limp mode until you do either of these two things.

The bike should be fine without any dealer intervention once you do one of the options.

There is a difference in the ECU firmware from Euro 4 to Euro5. This causes the ECU to not get proper feedback from your ESE dongle and the ECU thinks that the Exhaust flap is disconnected/not working/wrong tension on the cable.

That is correct. The Akra map basicly "contains an ESE module" in the form of some lines of coding.

I would however check with your dealer first if they are willing to sell you just the Akra map if you are going with another exhaust system. I dont think any Dealers here in Norway is willing to do that without buying the system too, but I have seen some people getting this done in other countries .
