Anyone installed a Carpuride?

Hehey,

I've just bought a Carpuride W702 CarPlay/Android Auto to replace my Garmin Zumo XT.
It comes with a ball-mount and I'm wondering if there's no sturdier better way to attach it to the KTM 890 Adventure.

There's a 3D-printed mount on the interwebs, that's literally just a small L-Shaped attachment, so the screen is very close to the windshield and not sticking out compared to the main display. Any of you guys have a very good solution to this?

I thank you in advance :)

Cheers

How you getting on with this? I've been using the 3d printed part (Printed myself in Blue PET-G at 65% infill) on my 890 adventure to pretty good success so far. If you are printing for yourself, make sure to use a somewhat UV resistant material, I'd suggest Pet-G as it's a bit tougher than PLA and also ressists the sun. The unit I have on mine runs very hot as well so I was worried a lower heat resistant PLA would melt.

Good luck

Thanks mate :)

I don't have a 3D-printer myself, but my colleague is printing one for me.
I bought a spool of UV-resistant PLA so he could print it.

Just a quick question: did you have to get new screws to get if all fastened?
And what are the specs of those if you don't mind? :)

Cheers

Oh interesting you guys are using different parts to the one i built- Carpuride W702 W502 support by ericgrand had to order a selection of m2/3/4 bolts to replace existing

This design is more generic for the touratech acc bar.

- similarly done about 900 miles with it in the sun and not had any issues, though on the 1290 the 7inch sits snug between the windscreen mounts

Hold your horses :)

I just got something my dealer put together. And it's more confidence inspiring than the 3D-printed part.
Basically he started with the 890 Adventures GPS-mount cover. He then added a RAM-mount ball.

So, I just removed the GPS-mount and added this contraption.
I then proceeded to add world's shortest RAM-mount arm with a security Screw
I got it off Amazon here's the link in the Belgian Store.

I then added the Carpuride with its original backplate. No Screwing around with other screws (pun intended)
or 3D-printed mounts (mine I got from my colleague felt very brittle and I heard creaking when manipulating it...)

For now, I've connected the unit via the USB-plug but nothing happens. I think the output must be to weak.
I've tried the cigarette lighter plug, but there too it doesn't seem to pull enough power to get it going. I've tested the Carpuride with a big-*** power bank and it works. So I just need to figure out a way to make it work, with the other wiring...

But that's for tomorrow I guess, unless one of you can help me out with how to wire it properly without draining my battery :)

Price for the part my dealer made: 12 EUR and pat on my back :)

Hope this helps.

Brilliant set up! I just ordered the parts to set mine up the same way. The 3D print works but I like the adjustability of this set up much better.

As for the wiring:
The USB pigtail doesn't seem to work well with the bike. The unit requires 12V and I'm guessing the bike does not provide enough current in the USB plug to step the voltage up.
I suggest directly wiring to the ACC2 connectors hidden under the small panel on the right side faring. ACC2 is a key switched 12V power source, ACC1 is always on 12V source (The Brown wires are grounds). You can crimp male spade connectors to the red and black wires on the other pigtail that came with the kit and plug it right in. I removed the right side panel to gain access to the wires. I then unbolted and unplugged the display and moved it out of the way leaving the USB power wire connected. There is a small electronic module under the right side panel that you can temporarily remove from its tab mount to gain enough room to run the wire up and out behind the behind the display. It works great and powers right up with the key.

Yes, installed the W502 on a 2024 790 Adv. It's working very well. Good visibility during sunny days and it starts up and connects to my iphone pretty fast. So far no issues. For approx. $216 on Amazon I think it's a good deal and you can use all of your navigation apps. Not so interested in music and messages while I ride but those work too. I installed a Vanasche GPS mount with a 1" ball socket to AMPs adapter (see photo) you can buy from Amazon since the Carpuride does not have an AMPs hook up (see photo). I went with the 5 inch screen to keep weight low and minimize vibrations at low rpms.

Installed the Carpuride W702 on an original KTM screen mount for the Superadventure S. Was searching the internet and found this 3D printed mount. You can find it on Printables, Carpuride GPS holder for KTM 1290 super adventure.
Great solution, don't only use the ball screw but put also some Bisonkit in it, and don't forget to use blue Loctite for all the screws. Fits like a charm.
