Just lost all the oil out of the rear shock on an 790 adventure s . Done 50,000 km.
Lesson here is service your suspension regularly. Shock oil and seals deteriorate.
The cat converter tends to heat the rear shock and can hasten this so I’m told.

Hi Craig.

I've had many rear shocks serviced and resprung at that distance so it's time to have it rebuilt or buy a another/aftermarket shock if you want something better.

Cat heat is not a major issue unless your model has no heat shield. It's more likely just a failure due age or load or like the forks, crappy European seals. Talk to a shock rebuilder and see what they say. I have used RAD here in Brisbane but he may be looking to retire so I don't know if he still does the work.

👍
Thanks for that Dave, I’m pretty sure lack of a service is the reason for this fail. If better get onto my 2390 rear shock before it does something similar
