Turns out, the damped sprocket is in no way functionally similar to a cush drive. There is no dampening of the gear and chain actuation at all -- it's just a piece of rubber affixed to the outer ring of the sprocket that's supposed to somewhat quiet chain noise. They were developed for the Enduro and SMC's, which did not have cush drives. According to Jon at KTM Twins, there is no need for dampening on the Duke sprocket since it has a cush drive, and he's doubtful whether a rubber ring on the sprocket really accomplished any appreciable quieting in the first place, which makes total sense, especially given the noise of the motor in the first place. So it doesn't matter which one ya get!

Actually, I think the damped one is better. I just went and looked at the bike, and it did come with the damped sprocket. The rubber is very thick, and sort of rides against the lower face of the chain links just a little bit. Given that, I can certainly see where it would make a difference to noise, and maybe a little to chain wear. Plus, it's either the same price or less and is offered in 15t, so the damped one seems like the way to go.
