Hi all, need some help here from the experienced owners. Recently i noticed that my 2016 SDR (with 8K km on it) has a bit bigger vibration and mild engin rattling noise after the last oil change. It happens when i am stopping at the red light (or a total stop) and put the gear into neutal and fully release the clutch lever. And as soon as i pull in the clutch lever (towards the handle bar), the vibration and the rattling noise is gone. (donno the mechnics behind the scene, but isn't pull in the clutch lever is the same as putting the gear into neutral?).

i google this a bit and found some say it is normal for single cyclinder and twin cyclinder bikes. And some say it is not normal as they don't have this happening. I tried a friend's Kawasaki Z800 and the bike is quite smooth when putting the gear at neutral. Called two friends riding 390 and MT-09 who live far (can't go try it personally) and both said they feel anything speical when putting the gear into neutral.

So do any of the beast owners also feeling the slightly bigger vibration and rattling noise at neutral? If this is not normal, what should i ask the shop to check on? Really loved the beast and trying to keep it at the best condition.

Your rattle/vibration description sounds like a loose clutch basket. You may want to post a video with audio if possible or put youtube link for your video. This would allow other owners to compare your complaint to their own bike. Your clutch basket uses a damping system which wears and loosens a bit with age and use. Very common problem. Probably nothing to worry about. Be sure to describe your symptom exactly to your service shop and be sure to explain your rattle stops when depressing clutch. Disassembly and inspection should be expected for simple replacement or repair. Unless it were under warranty or causing other symptoms you may want to delay repairs until noise worsens.

Ditto. The sound is similar both my 2v dry clutch Ducatis. Neighbors used to ask what was wrong with them while they idled in the driveway. On those bikes, it was the clutch basket wearing letting the plates rattle back and forth. If there really is more vibration, that may be a concern.
