KTM 250 SX-F not giving a spark

We're participating in a MotoStudent competition and we wired our harness according to the schematic given to us by the competition. Trying to start it we're not getting a spark.
We checked the signal coming from the ECU to the ignition coil and we see no signal.
Connecting the laptop to the ECU and checking for faults we see only "IAT sensor signal high" in the "Live faults" section of the SPARK software.
My understanding is that usually the intake air temperature sensor is used to optimize the fuel, but the engine should be able to run without it. Could it be a reason why we're not seeing a spark?
Another thing coming to mind is the tilt sensor, we don't have it implemented currently so we tried to spoof it by connecting it to either 0V or 5V and neither of those helped.
Connecting to the ECU while it's disconnected from the harness gives us "Freeze faults". I'm not sure what that means even so maybe that's the issue too?
Any ideas what to check next? We're at a complete loss.

Best to include the model year for best results.
