Full exhaust system for 2020 SDR

Ive been following and my understanding has been that there seemed to be some do it yourself work arounds required. Im useless when it comes to electrical. I can handle plug and play only. It would be great to just order a full exhaust, install and it work with no error codes. I completely understand fuel mapping would be needed though, which is fine.

Has anyone bought either the full akro or Austin in Canada for their 2020? If so, from where? I know you’ll know the insane duty we pay.. Thnx

So, i called my KTM dealer who called KTM. KTM says that signals must be disconnected and there's no such map available for the Akro system so that it works. Not as easy as i had hoped. Akro doesn't have a ph # i can call and in the only contact portal they offer, they require the model of the bike and the 2020 SDR isn't even included in the drop down.

Would you happen to know where the map for your Akro was acquired from? KTM Canada says there's no such thing and KTM Canada sells the Akro exhaust

Hello tkbraaps,
The Akrapovic evo exhaust was made for KTM SDR 1290R 2020 model Specific you cant buy it form Akrapovic directly they will tell you to communicate with your local KTM Dealer.
KTM in order to avoid any legal issues implement to the exhaust map a peace of code to the bikes computer to check if the indicator lights are disconnected if not bike cant start (the reason was that you don't need indicator lights for track days :) )
Now i strongly suggest to leave the installation to a KTM experience dealer because its not easy to remove half of the bike in order to install the EVO system and after that you must flush the dedicated map that comes only directly from KTM Service Tablet (tablet connects to your bike then tablet connects to KTM Server authenticate your bike and your EVO purchase , download the firmware and install it to your bike.
After that Error codes removed and the bike come back to normal mode back from the limbo mode. :)
Many ppl do the installations by themselves the instructions are pretty straight forward but you need a bit of experience in some steps.
for the complete restore of your indicator light functionality i have only one word to say Magic-box V1 or V2 :)

My bike was ordered at the same time as some KTM power parts, one of them was the exhaust.
As explained to me by my dealer, the map was authorized by a KTM engineer that gave the proper instructions to flash the ECU.

The information you got does not seem accurate, unless that feature is not allowed in your country?

Yeah there is no point contacting Akra as this is exhaust was jointly developed by Akra and KTM and exclusively offered through KTM powerparts As KTM is the exclusive distributor, 100% KTM has a Map for it available through their dealer network and given its race only, every dealer should have access to it.

I’ve run into this before with dealers having limited experience with Installing (and finding) the Akra map. You are better off calling KTM north America and ask them what map goes with the exhaust (have the power parts# for the akra handy) - Let them know what your dealer told you...you may have to pretend you are racing the bike...

Yes, it is a big KTM dealer that told me the spoke with KTM Canada, but i will try to contact KTM Canada myself as someone else suggested. Thanks so much

Im pretty sure I know the dealer you are referencing - they are the exact one who had the problem finding and installing the Akra map on my friends bike a few year back :pended up buying a full Akra exhaust from them as well but had the map installed somewhere else - but I was armed with the exact map name (and told them to have KTM online when the did it as I didn’t want the issues my friend had) - it went with out a hitch.

Talk to KTM directly to get the facts.

That dealer also has a KTM parts specialist on the second floor -Perhaps you can ask him to call on your behalf to know what map should be installed if you buy that exhaust.

I tried calling KTM a few times and no one answers the phone and invites to leave a msg. Ive left a msg and also emailed them. I wonder if I'll have to call another dealer that will find the map and install it..

So I was too lazy making a work-around for the turn signals so I reached out to kmanou and bought one from him. It only took about 10 minutes to install. Works great. Thanks Man! Heres some pics of the install:

Step 1: T in the rear turn signals at the tail end. It's just the 1 bigger plug that goes to the signals and plate light.

Step 2: Remove the fairings and route the cable through the right side of the bike.

Step 3: T in the right side turn signal

Step 4: Route the remaining cable to the left side. I routed mine behind the ignition lock.
Step 5: T in the left side turn signal, zip ties any loose wires and reinstall fairings!

Step 6: Ride bike and obey the law by using your turn signals!

V1 can make signals work only after the bike boots but V2 can make the signals work even when the bike is off so hazard light remain on if you turn bike off and if you have alarm installed you can see the arm - disarm indication with the blinking or when the alarm is on you see flushing lights with the siren :)
