Ktm duke 125cc ignition failure!

Ok so I went to start my bike up this morning to set off for work, everything seemed normal as I switched the dash on but when I pressed the ignition button it wouldn't fire the bike up, nor make any sort of effort to.. I drove home in heavy rain last night and I don't know it this has anything to do with it but it's costing me time off work and I need this sorted ASAP.. The bike is 2012 and has done 3200 miles. HELP

Sounds like your battery is just a tad low, my Duke acts this way whenever I leave the key on after riding it (which I constantly do because I am a space cadet) Headlight and all other systems will work as usual but the ignition will not even attempt to turn the bike over. Toss some jumper cables or a booster pack on it and give it another shot.

Not sure where you are, but you might consider
a battery tender (Jr).
I've been using them on my toys for 10+ years
and no complaints. You leave them on anytime
you are not riding.

Put a voltmeter across the battery and hit the start button. What does the voltage drop to under starting conditions? A rooted battery can still hold full charge but not deliver it when asked. I am not confident that you battery IS rooted though since your dash is initialising normally - well what I suppose is normally.

Regarding your vid, just to rule out the obvious, it's not in gear is it?

Its your starter button, open up the unit and get to your starter contact points. Theres a little plastic cover thats held down with a screw, undo it and lift it with a small screw driver it will take a bit but it pops off. Hit it with some wd40 to clear any crap from the contact points. If that doesnt work try starting it with your stand up but my guess is its the starter button.

Its in the starter circuit somewhere, your getting no ticking noise at all. My 390 did the same thing which is why I picked the starter switch. Checked your fuses? Also may want to check your battery leads from the terminals for cracking, it might be supplying current but not getting through to ignite the starter motor. As an out there guess it could be your roll over sensor has stopped working.

You fitted an immobiliser? The key doesnt have one in it if thats what your refering too. Another guess is that the bike wouldnt power up if there is one fitted as it should stop any current at all. If you know what your doing you can remove the steering lock, start the 125/200/390 range and ride away in under 2 minutes by the way ;)

It was a simple little comment at the end of a question from the first part that I was asking you about so I could help you but no worries go f&ck yourself and find help somewhere else ya twat!! I'll cease looking through my workshop manual as well douche.

You responded with a stupid comment about how easy it would be to steal my bike! How on earth is that helpful? As I said above, I appreciate the help from you both but if you're going to try and make a joke out of how easy somebody could steal my bike then keep that sh*t to yourself. It's back at the garage now anyway so I will post what the issue was and how it got fixed for anybody with similar problems.
