I will gladly shoot a video of the process. ;)

Ohh, did I mention the part numbers for the rocker arms and pins had been updated considerably? That proves they were an issue! The cam bearings were the same part numbers... Hmm...

Again, I hate that rocker arm situation, its the biggest issue with the motor so thats why I'm betting they are the problem.

Awesome thanks tye!

Hmm well if this works and provide evidence via your a new video you make after installing those pieces and we all write a letter and complain to ktm I wonder if we could get a recall going?

Another big thumbs up from me tye be very keen to see your write up as I would like to keep this bike and if this sorts it out I will want to do this job too :)

Would you mind listing the parts we would need with the numbers?

A quick search is showing that they have upgraded only the exhaust rocker arm. Some places ie. ktmtwins is still listing the older number and, I might add, charging $18 more for it, too. I'm seeing the rockers for $63.56 from powersportswarehouse.com.

BTW, ktmtwins is also listing the older exhaust rocker # for the Duke 4, too.

Old: 750036061044
new: 750036061144

Does that agree with what you found, Tye? And by rocker arm pins, do you mean the rocker arm shafts?

Well, it's been about 3000km since my rockers have been replaced and it's been quiet and does seem to have more grunt, recently got the 30,000km service and found everything in order.
I'm doing my usual 4 day weekend trips again soon so i'm confident, again, that it's going ok.
Seeing that change in part numbers does indicate there could have been an issue with the rockers.
I'll soon have 40,000km up, soon see how they grow old :)

Well, seems that way.The trip I did (7000km) was mainly cruising around 120kmh, now i'm home it's winding roads with constant high revs, the exhaust note seems rather new to me now with the engine noise gone, so it's fun, renewed..
I'm enjoying the Duke so I do hope it continues to be stable..but yeah, I'd say rocker arms are the issue, so glad it was found then,I could've been very far from home with a mess otherwise!!
Good luck guys :)

So to confirm all you did is replace the rockers which is part #750036061144? If you could confirm that'd be awesome for the rest of us!

Here are the parts:

75036061144
75036060144
75036056000
0618182414
0618404712

The first two are the rockers and they are BOTH updated numbers according to ktmpartshouse.com

The third number is the shaft which holds the rocker arms in place (which I assume is damaged)

The fourth and fifth numbers are the two bearings for the cam, which again, I assume are damaged.

I can't think of any other parts which could cause this type of rattle in the valve train.

Can't wait to get the parts in, but its gonna be a few weeks most likely.

Outstanding, Tye. It goes to show you that you have to watch like a hawk. I checked 3 or 4 places and got the old intake rocker #. Nice bonus is that ktmpartshouse.com is even cheaper ie. $53.38.

My '10 Duke 3 is pretty quiet, which is relative. But I think new rockers is a good preventative measure.

Yeah, you're right. The rocker arms were updated during this year.
My 2013 Duke 4 R has also the old ones.:hammer:

Interesting - off-road-biker when was your bike built (month/year)?

Does anyone know the details of these updated rocker arms (i.e. updated rollers or bearings...etc) ?

Mine gets louder and louder, its to the point now I'm actually debating not riding it, but I have to as I don't have a parking space at work! :(

So I just try not to abuse it too much and keep it running until the parts arrive. Usually ktmpartshouse is about 2 weeks, one week for them to get the parts and one week to me as they are pretty far away from me.
